The peptide pen in a nutshell

A peptide pen is a pre-filled injection pen containing a research peptide dissolved in a ready-to-use solution. Its design builds on pens that have been used in medicine for decades (insulin pens, for example) — you set the desired dose with a dial and the pen measures it out precisely.

The key difference from the traditional format is convenience. Research peptides are classically supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a vial that must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, have its concentration calculated, and be drawn into an insulin syringe. A peptide pen removes that entire step — it arrives ready for immediate application.

How a peptide pen works

Inside the pen is a glass cartridge holding a peptide solution of a known concentration. The pen mechanism works in three steps:

  1. Attaching the needle — a thin disposable needle (usually sold separately) is fitted to the pen.
  2. Setting the dose — turning the dial selects the number of units; a display or scale shows the selected dose.
  3. Application — after insertion you press the button, which advances the plunger and delivers exactly the set amount.

Because the metering is mechanical, dosing is reproducible — which is essential for the comparability of research results. Manual reconstitution and syringe measurement accumulate error more easily.

What to look for when choosing

Purity and certificate of analysis

A quality peptide has documented purity of ≥ 99% by HPLC and a certificate of analysis (CoA) for every batch. Without it, you don't know what's really inside — the stated concentration is then just an estimate. All of our pens undergo HPLC analysis and a CoA is available on request.

Cold chain

Peptides are heat-sensitive. A pen that has travelled for days without cooling may have reduced potency regardless of its original quality. That's why we ship in thermo-insulated packaging with a cooling pack and recommend proper storage immediately on receipt.

Concentration and volume

Check how many mg of active substance the pen contains (e.g. 5 mg, 10 mg) and the total volume of solution — this determines how many doses you'll get from the pen.
